The Western Nebraska Pioneers finished up their road trip through Kansas by getting swept in a doubleheader by the Hays Larks on Wednesday night.

After the rainout on Tuesday the two teams had a pair of seven inning games scheduled last night, one of which took extra innings.

It wasn’t the first game as the Larks scored 11 runs in the first inning of game one en route to a 11-2 win. Bryce Peterson had the lone RBI in the loss for the Pioneers while Michael Simien started and was touched up for nine earned runs and he did not record an out.

Game two went to extras before the Larks the walked it off for a 3-2 win. Luke Noack had three of the Pios six hits and he drove in both runs. Ronan Hella started and struck out three in four innings. Kieran Gaffney charged with the loss in relief.

The Pioneers get tonight off before starting a 10 game homestand tomorrow night when they welcome in the Australian Select Colts for games Friday and Saturday. We’ll have broadcasts both night on KNEB AM 960/100.3 FM starting at 6:20 pm.
