GHS Speech Team repeats as Class B State Champions

The Gering Bulldog Speech Team clinched the State Class B Championship Wednesday at Kearney High School, marking their second consecutive victory in the highly competitive arena.

Under the guidance of coaches Tyler Thompson, Jenn Dillinger and John Boyd, the Gering Bulldogs had 12 entries roll into finals after initial rounds, the most in Class B.

The back-to-back victory reaffirmed their status as a powerhouse in the realm of speech, reflecting not only individual prowess but also the collective strength of their program.

The team had 12 individual, duo and team medalists, as well as a state champion, Natalie Peterson, in the Persuasive speech category.

  • 4th Place – OID, Gavin De Los Santos, Thomas Cannot, Zephaniah Henderson, Dominic Marostica and Aphia Boyd
  • 5th Place – Extemporaneous, Natalie Peterson
  • 5th Place – Humorous, Gavin De Los Santos
  • 6th Place – Humorous, Rachel Boyd
  • 6th Place – Duet, John Coakley and Mason Barrett
  • 6th Place – OID, Zach Cannot, Lily Kadolph, Sam Martindale, Rachel Boy and John Coakley
