On Monday afternoon at Gering High School it was senior Kaden Bohnsack signing to play football at Chadron State College.
“We went up there for football camp and that’s when I got my offer. It’s close to home and Dan O (Gering coach Danny O’Boyle) played there, so it’s kind of cool.”
Bohnsack is what I’d call a “glue” type athlete at Gering over the last few years. Regardless of any ups and downs he was always out for a sport and accountable.
He said originally he wasn’t planning on going to college but then the scholarship offer came through and changed things. It was a summer team camp that got the ball rolling in this direction.
“So we went up there for summer camp and we didn’t have a ton of guys so it was kind of play wherever you can. I got thrown into a number of positions and I think they liked that about me. I got to show them what I could do all over the field and not just one position, so that was good.”
After playing both sides of the ball at a number of different positions for the Bulldogs, Bohnsack will now focus on the tight end position at Chadron State.
