Gering Pool Hits Hiccup Opening Weekend

Gering Pool Hits Hiccup Opening Weekend
June 3rd, 2024 | Ryan Murphy

A maintenance issue forced staff at the Gering Public Pool to close midday Sunday for unforeseen maintenance needs during its opening weekend.

Fortunately, staff was able to make quick work of the issue, and just 24 hours later the pool got the green-light to re-open to the public.

With the municipal pool getting up there in age, the city has launched a public input survey regarding the Gering Pool.

“In making any plans and any changes in your community or improvements, it’s always important that you hear from your community members so we understand exactly what the needs are.” says Amy Seiler, Director of Parks/ Recreation and Leisure Services. “We don’t want to make assumptions. We want to hear from the community what they are wanting. And this survey that we are putting out for our pool facility survey is going to engage with our community members, find out what’s really important to them and what they would really like to see us do with our swimming pool.”

Questions on the survey include things like “How often do you use the following recreational amenities?” “Should the City renovate the existing swimming pool?” and “Would your household be interested in a summer swim team?”
