A July 11 preliminary hearing has been set for a Gering man facing felony drug distribution charges that were the result of a traffic stop last week.

On Monday, bond was set at $200,000 for 31-year-old Raymond Furrey, who is charged with distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine, two counts of no drug tax stamp and a drug money forfeiture charge.

Late last Friday night, a vehicle Furrey was driving was stopped in the Carpenter Center driveway in Terrytown, and during a search, Scottsbluff Police found a locked backpack that contained 783 pills marked “M 30”, generally known to be fentanyl, as well as a baggie with a substance that tested presumptive positive for meth weighing 26.9 grams.

Furrey was arrested and taken to the Scotts Bluff County jail, where a search of his person found $2,000 cash that was seized and placed into evidence.
