The city of Gering will have one less retail option soon, as the Family Dollar location in the community is slated to close.
Outside the store, a ‘Store Closing’ banner hangs above the doors, and inside, everything is currently marked 50 percent off.
Earlier this month, the parent company Dollar Tree announced the closure of 600 Family Dollar locations across the country the first half of this year.
At this time, it appears the company’s Scottsbluff location will be spared, however, another 370 Family Dollar stores and 30 Dollar Tree stores will close in the coming years as their leases expire.
