Friday Night Scoreboard: Scores and Replays for Scottsbluff, Gering and Bridgeport

Time for a recap of the action on our broadcasts from week 5 of high school football, as well as action from around the area.

GERING- The Gering Bulldogs fell for the first time this season but fought till the end as they come up just short against the McCook Bison, 24-23.

Gering drove down the field while trailing in the final minute of the game, getting a touchdown with 48 seconds left to make it a one score game. However, the Bulldogs could not convert the extra point, leaving the Bison on top as the contest came to a close.

The Bulldogs racked up 276 yards of total offense with quarterback Rece Knight passing for 144 yards and a touchdown while adding 43 yards rushing. Barron Williams had three receptions for 37 yards and caught the touchdown pass. Creighton Beals had 46 yards rushing, Bo Gable had 32 rushing yards and 37 receiving yards.

Gering is now 4-1 on the season and are at Scottsbluff next Friday.

LEXINGTON- The Scottsbluff Bearcats bounced back in their first district game of the season by downing Lexington on the road, 56-7.

Coming off of a top-ten matchup loss to Seward at home last week, 28-27. The Bearcats were able to get back in the win column to improve their record to 4-1 on the season.

The Bearcats will host Gering next week in a battle of one loss teams in that rivalry matchup beginning with pregame at 6:30 p.m. on 107.3 The Trail.

KIMBALL- The Bridgeport Bulldogs got their record back above .500 with a, 56-20, win over long time WTC foes the Kimball Longhorns.

The Bulldogs got a huge first half from junior Logan Levick. He ended the half with five total touchdowns, three on the ground and two receiving, as well as an interception to help propel Bridgeport to a 44-0 halftime lead.

Gage Nein also had two receiving touchdowns for Bridgeport on two catches for 56 yards. Quarterback Nik Weibert’s night ended with 128 yards passing and the four touchdown passes.

Meanwhile, Kimball got rushing touchdowns from Luke Berger, Noe Trevino and Brayden Fuss, with Trevino returning a kickoff as well in the second half, to crack the goose egg in the second half.

Kimball is now 1-4 on the year and will head to Perkins County next Friday, kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

Bridgeport improves to 3-2 on the season and will host Morrill at 1 p.m. next Friday. We will have that game on 94.1 The Brand beginning at 12:40 p.m.
