A former Alliance man has been convicted by a federal jury on two child pornography charges.

United States Attorney Susan Lehr says 39-year-old Tyler Denby was found guilty Wednesday of one count each of interstate transport and possession of child pornography.

In July 2021, Alliance Police received calls for assistance concerning an individual threatening others, and after encountering Denby at a local gas station, a marijuana pipe noticed in his pocket and stolen firearm found on his person led to a probable cause search of his vehicle.

During the search, a large number of electronic devices, along with some other very concerning items, including a pillowcase filled with stained children’s underwear, were discovered and seized, with Denby arrested for several state crimes.

A search warrant was received for the numerous electronic devices and reviewed by Alliance Police investigators, including three microSD cards which had been located in Denby’s wallet that contained a substantial amount of child pornography files.

While Denby was in custody, he was interviewed by law enforcement, admitting to having child pornography on those devices, and traveling Montana to Nebraska with those electronics.

Denby faces a potential prison term of up to twenty years on each count, and a minimum of five years on the transportation count. He could also receive a $250,000 fine, a life term of supervised release, a $100 special assessment, and additional special assessments ranging from $22,000 to $40,000 on each conviction.

Sentencing is set for November 21.
