Fire burns 121 acres in Banner Co. Friday

Lightning was the cause of a grass fire Friday in Banner County that burned more than 100 acres.

Banner County Fire officials say at 15:52, the department was dispatched to the blaze in the western part of the county.

Due to the location and intensity of the fire, mutual aid was requested from LaGrange, Albin, Pine Bluffs, Bushnell, Morrill, and Lyman.

The locally-based SEAT plane was also requested, but due to changing conditions and a weather thhr request was withdrawn.

Authorities say weather conditions were favorable, and helped limit the impact to 121 acres.

22 fire trucks, and 39 firefighters were on hand, as well as 2 local tractors with discs that were greatly appreciated.
