The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced federal disaster aid will be available to help pay for damage caused by our severe winter storm and blizzard in April.

President Biden approved a federal disaster declaration for Banner, Cheyenne, Dawes, Garden, Kimball, Morrill, Scotts Bluff and Sioux counties in the Panhandle.

The cost-share funding will help defray the cost of emergency work and the repair or replacement of public infrastructure damaged or destroyed during the storm.

Power districts and utilities in the region reported more than 2,000 poles and other transmission structures were damaged April 6th and 7th.

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.

Andrew P. Meyer has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further assessments.
