Mother Nature cooperated for sunny weather on Saturday as the High Plains Auto Club hosted their annual Father’s Day Classic at Five Rocks Amphitheater in Gering.

Things started off with a parade of cars in downtown Gering at 9 a.m., before parking up at Five Rocks for the show and shine.

Dick Lessert has been part of the show for more than two decades, and says it’s evolved a lot since he first got involved.

“The first car show I went to, there were about 20 cars,” recounted Lessert. “And we’re at 250 to 300 now.” He says that over the years, he’s also seen more modern cars being entered into the car show, noting that it is open to any and all cars- not just vintage.

Attendees were able to admire hundreds of classic Ford’s, Chevy’s, Hot Rods and more during this year’s event, which celebrated its 25th anniversary.
