Elwood Rodeo to auction off belt buckle in support of local Miss Rodeo Nebraska Lady-in-Waiting

Since she was knee high to a grasshopper, Danielle Forster remembers attending and helping out at the Elwood Rodeo. These days, Forster is preparing for her year as the official ambassador for the sport of rodeo in the Cornhusker State. She will officially begin her reign as Miss Rodeo Nebraska in January of 2025.

Because of her volunteerism and family’s involvement in the Elwood Rodeo, the rodeo committee deemed it appropriate to show their support for Forster and her reign. Every year, the committee auctions off a belt buckle during the Friday night rodeo performance to raise funds for the committee and general maintenance. This year, however, the committee will donate the funds from the buckle auction directly to Forster’s reign, and match the funds up to $2,500.

Rodeo committee secretary Zobeth Potter says Forster has been an asset to the Elwood Rodeo for quite some time. The committee is excited to support her in this way.

“Danielle grew up as part of the rodeo club,” said Potter. “Right now she has taken on our queen contest as the chairperson and is always there to help.”

As for Forster, she says she is overwhelmingly grateful for the love and support that is being extended by her home community.

“It is truly humbling to receive this kind of support from my hometown,” said Forster. “I have known most of these people all my life, so it is really special to share this experience with them.”

Forster’s family involvement in the Elwood Rodeo is extensive. Her mom, Kim Forster, has served as a timer for many years. Her uncle, Tom Phillips, is the proprietor of Phillips Rodeo Company, the stock contracting firm that provides stock to the rodeo. Her brother Dillon Tiede, and sister-in-law, Dr. Kristin Tiede, also help with the stock contracting firm. Her grandfather, Joe Phillips, served as a rodeo judge for many years.

The 51st Elwood Rodeo will take place July 25th and 26th in Elwood, Nebraska with performances starting at 7pm with the steer riding and the grand entry at 7:30pm.

Tickets will be available at the gate and are priced as follows:

  • Adults – $10
  • Kids 12 & Under – $5
  • Kids 5 & Under – Free
