Duchesne Wins Third Straight Title, Scottsbluff’s Peck Finishes as Runner-Up for Fourth Place Bearcats.

GERING- Omaha Duchesne completed the team’s quest for a three-peat by winning the ‘Class B’ state golf tournament by one stroke over Elkhorn North.

Duchesne junior Whitney Dahir also claimed the individual title by shooting a two-day total of 157, which included a round of 75 on day two. Dahir finished fourth last season in ‘Class B’ as a sophomore.

The Scottsbluff Bearcats were the top finishing team from the panhandle as they got medal finishes from a pair of juniors. Elliot Selzer shot a two day total of 176 to finish tied for eighth. While Addison Peck finished as the runner-up in ‘Class B’ with a total of 163 that included a round of 79 on day two. Rounding out the team for the Bearcats was junior Mollijane Smith (206), senior Ruth Lively (216) and junior Addison Carmody (224).

Sidney also got a medal finish from senior Claire Jordan as she shot a total of 182 to finish tied for fourteenth. Sidney also went on to finish eighth as a team with a total of 784. Making up the rest of the team for the Red Raiders Jordan Denovellis (199), junior Josette Mcconnell (202), senior Katie Raffelson (203) and junior Aubrey Campbell (207).

Also competing at the championship was Alliance sophomore Ryley Norris, who shot a two day total of 208.

The ‘Class B’ state championship returns to the panhandle next year at Scottsbluff Country Club from Oct. 13-14.
