Deere & Company announced another round of mass layoffs this week, this time affecting salaried employees.

Deere officials cited the declining agriculture economy as the reason for their decision.

Ag Web, citing online sources, reported the layoffs could affect 4,500 to 6,000 employees once complete. The layoffs include John Deere’s global corporate and administrative divisions.

In June, Deere announced it would move skid steer and compact track loader manufacturing units from Dubuque, Iowa, to Mexico in an effort to curb manufacturing costs.

Earlier this month, Deere laid off about 600 workers at two factories in Iowa and Illinois, also citing declining demand for the decision.
