Preliminary hearings have been set for Jan. 5 for a Scottsbluff pair facing charges accusing both of being involved in a domestic disturbance at a 12th Avenue residence that left two people injured the day after Christmas.

Abel Garcia Sr. and his girlfriend Kateri Spotted Eagle, both 45, are charged with burglary and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

In court records, investigators say they found two people in the home with bleeding lacerations, and were told Garcia Sr. broke down the front door with Spotted Eagle and a fight ensued, with Garcia Sr. putting the male victim in a headlock, and then both assailants attacked the man and woman with knives.

Garcia Sr. is facing additional felony charges of intentional second degree assault and assault by strangulation, and Spotted Eagle faces an additional charge of misdemeanor assault causing bodily injury.

Bond for each of the defendants was set at $75,000, ten percent.
