The Scottsbluff City Council has passed an ordinance that amends the residency requirements for Fire Department Employees.

Previously, the Scottsbluff Police Department expanded the range for where its employees can live while still being employed. Now, the Fire Department has followed suit, and employees can live up to 30 miles from city limits or a 45 minute response time from the fire station.

One of the reasons for the expanding radius for residence is to allow a larger pool of perspective applicants to seek employment with the City of Scottsbluff Police or Fire Department without having to move into town.
