The 103rd consecutive running of Oregon Trail Days is officially in the books, and this year sure felt like one of the hottest on record.

That makes everyone participating in the annual Chili Cookoff at Five Rocks Amphitheater really dedicated, really crazy, or maybe a little bit of both.

Dozens of chefs got there bright and early Saturday to work on their dry bean, CASI and green chili pots.

Afternoon temperatures topped 100 degrees, but that didn’t stop hundreds of patrons to come in for chili tasting for the wide variety of concoctions.

Around 5 p.m., winners from each category were announced, with the top finisher in the CASI competition getting the chance to compete nationally.
