For the first time in more than 11 years, the City of Scottsbluff is on the hunt for a new Chief of Police.

Kevin Spencer has held the post since 2013, but has been also serving as City Manager for the past two years. He says he’s ready to pass the torch on the law enforcement side, and tells KNEB News what they’re looking at in their ideal candidate.

“We’re looking for a dynamic police chief that has great community policing skills,” says Spencer. “(Someone) who is going to be a great boss to the employees of the police department and a great coworker for city staff… Somebody that’s very public safety minded.”

The position was posted earlier this month, and applicants have until August 30th to get their resume submitted for consideration.
