Chamber Hosts Scottsbluff City Council Candidates Forum

Chamber Hosts Scottsbluff City Council Candidates Forum
October 8th, 2024 | rmurphy

With the November general election fast approaching, the Scottsbluff/ Gering United Chamber of Commerce hosted several candidate forums last week to better inform the public of who is running.

The Government Affairs Committee hosted candidates running for Scottsbluff City Council during a forum at Scottsbluff High School, and moderator Bill Boyer asked candidates Jerry Stricker, Scott Phillips, and Kasandra Lauder a variety of questions. Those questions ranged from why they were running for the seat to what can the council do (if anything) to address availability of workforce housing in the area.

Former city council member Selina Lerma is also running for a seat, but was unable to attend last week’s debate.

Incumbents Angela Scanlan and Jordan Colwell have opted not to seek re-election, thus their two seats are up grabs.

You can see the entire 45 minute debate by checking out the forum below.
