Chadron Police trying to tamp down rumors, especially on social media, of an alleged abduction, sexual assault and stabbing in that community the past weekend.
The department issued a release Wednesday afternoon, confirming there was a call for service last Saturday regarding a resident reporting an assault, but there was no immediate or on-going threat.
It continues that the investigation of the assault continues, and when investigators have completed their work, the department will release any pertinent and appropriate information.
