California Pair Arrested After I-80 Stop Near Kimball Finds Drugs, Loaded Gun

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested two people from California on drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near Kimball this week.

At approximately 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, a trooper observed an eastbound Dodge Durango speeding on I-80 near mile marker 18. During the traffic stop, the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity, and a vehicle search uncovered 37 pounds of marijuana, more than a pound of psilocybin mushrooms, and a loaded handgun.

The 19-year-old driver, Myra Williamson, of Turlock, California, and 22-year-old passenger Andrew Mendoza, of Keyes, California were both arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana – more than one pound, possession of a firearm during a drug violation, and no drug tax stamp.

Both were lodged in Kimball County Jail.
