A Scottsbluff man chose a criminal way to celebrate Memorial Day, and is now behind bars and facing several felony charges.

Early Monday morning, officers responded to the 1900 block of 11th Avenue for shots being fired in the area.

Police made contact with the resident, 29-year-old Eddie Gomez, and found shell casings in his driveway and a silver Ruger inside the home.

While being arrested officers also found a rolled up dollar bill with just under a gram of suspected methamphetamine.

He’s now facing felony charges of Discharge of a Firarm Near a Vehicle or Building and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Initial bond was set at $300,000 at 10 percent and Gomez was arraigned on the charges Wednesday afternoon in county court.
