Two local men are behind bars after getting caught with large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

On Tuesday, Troopers saw 46-year-old Ryan Aschenbrenner and 43-year-old John Sterkel parked on the shoulder of Highway 26 near Henry, and pulled over to see if they needed assistance.

A baggie with a fentanyl pill and meth fell out of Sterkel’s pocket, which prompted the search of vehicle, resulting in the discovery of a package containing 101 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a second package containing nearly 70 grams of fentanyl.

Charges including Possession of Meth (28-139 grams), Possession of an Exceptionally Hazardous Drug and No Drug Tax Stamp were filed against the duo, who were scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Wednesday in Scotts Bluff County Court.
