A surprise development in the city manager search by the City of Alliance.

Last Friday, the agenda for Tuesday night’s meeting contained a resolution to authorize the city to hire Baker Tilly for a recruitment search for the post. The firm was the same one used by the City of Scottsbluff in their search last year.

Monday afternoon, that item was dropped, and replaced with a resolution to ratify an employment agreement with Seth Sorensen of Pecos City, Texas as the new City Manager.

Early last December, Sorensen had been among candidates who interviewed for the post, and was offered the position, but declined primarily due to timing.

He was also among the top three under consideration for the Scottsbluff manager position at the same time, and had told KNEB News taking a post in the Panhandle would put him closer to family in the Rapid City area.
