Affidavit Details Events Leading Up to Lyman Police Officer Stabbing

Court documents shed more light on the events that transpired leading up to the stabbing of a Lyman Police Officer.

36-year-old Jeremy Torres was arrested Monday night on charges including Attempted 1st Degree Murder and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony.

The arrest affidavit states that the officer was walking around the area of Huntley Avenue and West P street, asking residents if they had heard any gun shots in the area.

Body camera footage showed Torres walked up to the officer with his hand in his pocket and proceeded to take out a knife and stab the officer three times. Torres reportedly stabbed the officer twice in the left side of the neck and once in the right upper back/ lower neck area. During the attack, he told the officer he was going to kill him.

Torres was tazed and handcuffed, and the officer was transported to the Emergency Room for surgery.

He is set to be arraigned on the felony charges today at 1:30 p.m. in Scotts Bluff County Court.
