Mekenna Fisher, a 5th generation cattle producer, has taken to social media to share her passion for animal agriculture.
Fisher’s love for the industry stems from growing up on her family’s ranch near Hershey, Nebraska, and being an active rodeo competitor for most of her life.
“Last summer I had a lot of free time which is unusual living on ranch,” Fisher said. “I spent a lot of time online and started noticing people who had an opposition to this way of life.”
From there, the college student launched “The Animal AGvocate,” to provide factual information online about animal agriculture. Specifically, beef production.
Fisher is on various social media platforms and posts infographics, does “Fun Fact Fridays,” and addresses “Myths of the Month.” She also interviews industry experts and showcases the day to day operations of her family ranch.
She is currently a student at Chadron State College where she is majoring in legal studies and rangeland management. As for her long term goals, Fisher would like to become a practicing attorney with emphasis in agricultural estate planning.
