If you were driving in Scottsbluff on Saturday, chances are you saw or heard a large law enforcement presence at Walmart. That’s because nearly all Panhandle agencies were on hand to participate in the 2023 Shop With a Cop Program.
Gering Police Captain Jason Rogers shares his first hand experience on being involved with this program.
“For a lot of these kids, they have the opportunity to shop for people which is something they may never have gotten a chance to do without a program like this,” explains Rogers.” or other programs that may do something similar. “So it’s giving the kids an opportunity to go do that, but it also gives us, in the law enforcement side, the opportunity to visit with these kids in a time where there’s no pressure. They get to know us, we get to know them. It’s really a fun environment for the kids to be in.”
Rogers says that if you’d like to donate to the shop with a cop program, you can contact your local law enforcement agency and they will make sure your donation goes to this cause..
