Viola (Joyce) Schaub, 97 of Gering, Nebraska passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Regional West Medical Center.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 10:30 am at Gering Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4-6 pm at the chapel. Joyce was born on November 1, 1924 in Oberlin, Kansas to Paul Olson and Vera Magner. She attended school in Oberlin, Kansas and graduated from Gering High School. She married Benjamin Schaub on September 5, 1947 in Gering, Nebraska and they made their home south of Gering. She stayed home and took care of her family.
She was involved in the Women’s Missionary Council at First Assembly Church and taught Sunday School.
In her later years she enjoyed reading, coloring and putting jigsaw puzzles together. Joyce loved her family and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Sandy and her husband Paul Young of Salem, OR and their children Dari Shaffer (Stetson), Shawna Kellogg (Will) and Dustin (Shawna) Young; daughter Beverly Schaub of Gering; daughter Janice McElroy (Mark) of Clarksville, Tenn. and her son Adam Evans; great grandchildren Rizah Young, Rayilynn Young, Corbett Young and Josiah Kellogg and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Paul Olson and mother Vera Pyle, husband Ben, brothers Kenneth and Keith Olson, sister Gertie Rahmig, infant sister Darlene and numerous nieces and nephews.
