Just in time for a 1976 tax write off, Valerie Lyn was born on December 30, 1976 to Dennis and Carol Pontine. She left us peacefully, in her sleep, on September 28, 2022.
She attended Bayard schools and worked at too many jobs to list all of them but here are the highlights. Val worked at Chimney Rock Villa as a CNA at an early age, as she loved working with the elderly. She also worked at Cellular One, Aurora Loan Services, Nebraska Title Co. and most recently at RWMC as a desk clerk in radiology.
Val had a passion for golfing, even hitting the ball occasionally, dressing as a deranged Easter Bunny, playing with her dogs Jude and Daisy, and hanging out with friends.
She is survived by her mother Carol Pontine, sister Sue & Jeff Wengler, nephew Tanner Wengler and Paige Kirby, nieces Meisha Wengler and Kylie Wengler, Grandparents Helen & Don Conklin, aunt Debbie & Ron Dudden, uncle Rod & Connie Schwindt, cousins Chris & Erin Dudden, Jared & Lark Dudden, Heather & Dean Macholan and Melissa & Wes Pokorny and special friend Albert Salazar.
Proceeding her in death were her father, Dennis Pontine; grandfather, Albert Schwindt; and grandparents, LeRoy & Esther Pontine.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Bayard, with Pastor George Naylor officiating. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.geringchapel.com
