Funeral services for Steven Lee Margheim, age 75, of rural Mitchell, who was ushered into heaven peacefully on November 8th with family by his side, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 13th at Dugan Kramer Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Hebbert officiating. Steve was born July 6th, 1948, in Scottsbluff to Alex Margheim and Helen Margheim (Lofing). He received his early education at Mitchell Valley Country School and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1966. Steve spent his youth on the family farm with his two brothers south of Lyman and then in Mitchell Valley. After graduating high school, he farmed south of Stegall.

Steve married Sandi Chlopek in Torrington on August 25th, 1974, and made their family home on a farm in Mitchell Valley, where they grew beans, sugar beets, corn, and raised cattle. In 1980, they moved just outside Mitchell where they had a great marriage and family, and made the most out of the little things life. Steve spent the last part of his career working for Panhandle Co-op before retiring in 2012.

Steve was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Federated Church in Mitchell, and attended various other churches. He strongly believed in God, and he and Sandi read daily verses from the Bible.

Steve enjoyed taking his antique tractor to tractor drives and farming events, fishing, camping, shooting firearms, and creating woodworking projects for his wife, family, and friends. He also enjoyed spoiling his pet cats Momcat and her daughter Squeek, who have passed.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Helen Margheim.

Survivors include Sandi, his beloved wife; son Scott and his wife Kathy Margheim, and his granddaughter Maddie of Columbus, NE; Brother Larry and wife Jan Margheim of Stegall, NE. Brother Rick and wife Lynn Margheim of rural Mitchell; Nephew Joel and his wife Tracie Margheim of Morrill, and their kids Colton, Jackson, and Kaitlyn; Nephew Kale and his wife Debbie Margheim of Castle Rock, Co, and their son Madison; brother-in-law Karl and his wife Karen Chlopek of Hickory, NC, and their sons Jason and Scott.

Service will be in casual attire or Husker apparel. Memorials will be made to the family.
