Shad Kevin Higgins, 52, Scottsbluff

Shad Kevin Higgins, 52 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska was set free and grew wings on Monday, August 19, 2024 on a Super Blue Moon, after a 3.5-year battle with Cancer. Many thanks to all the Healthcare Workers that took good care of Shad.

His Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. Per the Family, Wear your favorite Husker attire. At his request, cremation has taken place. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com.

Shad was born on July 24, 1972, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Jan and Dianna (Troxel) Higgins. He graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1990 and graduated from University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a degree in Business.

Shad worked in several Restaurants/Bars in Colorado and Nebraska as a Bar Manager and skilled Mixologist.

He enjoyed fishing, camping in the Rocky Mountains, listening to Classic Rock music, attending concerts, and was known as a great karaoke singer. He was a sports enthusiast, especially an avid Husker fan. In High School he played basketball, participated in musical theatre and sang in swing choir. He enjoyed and was an expert at putting a smile on everyone’s face, always making them feel welcomed and loved! He was known as a comedian and Giant Teddy Bear being 7’2” Tall or 6’ 14”. But most of all he loved being a father, watching his son play baseball, and spending quality time with family.

Survivors include his son Robert Bruce, mother, Dianna Furrey, brother Raymond Furrey, young nephew Devin Furrey, sister Misty Kay Higgins, special cousin Taylor Troxel, girlfriend Brittny Coleman, beloved dog Brick,

members of the Higgins, Troxel, and Furrey Families, and many friends he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, aunt, grandparents, cousin, and several good friends.
