Ruth Iona (Ingraham) Strecker, 86, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Monument Rehabilitation and Care Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. A private family gathering for Ruth will be held after interment at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to the Panhandle Humane Society. Ruth Strecker was born in Scottsbluff on October 30, 1937, to Hazel (Shelton) Ingraham and Oscar Ingraham of Morrill. She was the youngest child of seven. She graduated from Morrill High School in 1955. Ruth attended college at Scottsbluff Junior College and later obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Chadron State College. Ruth married Robert (Bob) Eugene Strecker on October 30, 1958. The couple had three children, Marlyce, Keith, and Willene. Ruth had a variety of jobs but she loved being a farm wife and teaching. Over the years, she taught at Henry, Lake Alice, and the Pink School House. Ruth also had a love of music. She gave piano lessons to her kids, grandkids and neighborhood kids. She loved watching movies with Bob. Ruth loved her family.
Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Marlyce (Kim) Burkey of Scottsbluff and Willene (Scott) Kummer of Hastings, grandchildren Travis (Ashley Kessler) Burkey of Melbeta, Amanda (Mike) Kanzler of Scottsbluff, Emily (Joe) Hernandez of Gering and Shane Burkey of North Platte; and six great grandchildren with a seventh on the way.
Ruth was preceded in death by her son Keith, her husband Bob, her parents and her six siblings.
