Russell G. Orosz was born on August 22, 1940 to Andrew S Orosz and Henrietta (Dolly) Dayton Orosz in Brooklyn, New York.

They family lived in New York until 1948 when they moved to unincorporated Pleasantview by Golden, CO.

Russell worked at Max Masco’s Car Lot, set up pins in the local bowling alley, and even worked at a turkey farm close by, while attending school. The family went wherever a movie was being made and made friends with many movie stars. Gregory Peck bought Russ’s BB gun for $10.00. Also, while Russell was in school, he worked with his dad and brother Donald Orosz at camp George West. He was discharged from the National Guard when he graduated high school and he and his friend Ron Martella signed up for the US Navy on the Buddy system. On June of 1958, they went to San Diego for bootcamp, stationed at Point Mugu. They made it to a submarine.

Russ was on The Ashtubula and Deta ships. He was a boatswain. Russell was stationed at Sasabo, Japan for his homeport. Russ loved the ocean and water of lakes and streams.

In 1961, Russell was honorably discharged from the US Navy, he returned to Golden, CO. He and his parents loved square dancing, so traveled around the US with a square dance club. He was also a member of a travel club and went all over the US and Canada. Russ loved boats and trains. He built both his trains were 1/6 size. He made a 16’ cabin cruiser that he took to Lake Powell. Russ was a member of the Colorado Historical Society and made a model of the Hiwan Homestead of Colorado, and also was a member of the Pleasantview Fire & Arson Department. Russell drove for Roadway trucking for 33 years and retired in May of 1994.

In 1993, he met Sharon Harsh. They were married in July of 1994. In 2003, they bought a building from Gerald Snyder and remodeled it to make the R & S Trainstop. The restaurant opened in October 2003. They closed in June 2015, Robert Harsh, Sharon’s father started a music night once a month there. Russ enjoyed them all coming in. Russ and Sharon started the first potluck Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas dinners the 1st year 2003.

He was preceded in death by his parents Andy and Dolly Orosz, aunt Dorothy Ryan, brothers Donald and Raymond Orosz and nephews Ryan Shaman and David Orosz.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; daughter Chrystal Ingraham of Bayard; Natasha (JD) Ingraham, Brayen, Balin, Gracie (who was his special girl) and Gunner; Shane (Makala) Ingraham, Jacksyn, Travis (Kayliegh), Andraya and Chrystal; Chad Ingraham, Alaynna and Ariella; Angel Coffman (who is very proud of for following in his footsteps) (Michelle Likes daughter) of La Junta, CO; Damian Woodruff, Xaylee and Zane; Kaylee Woodruff, Chloe, Noah and Landon; Jace Likes, Lucas (Tanya) Stuart, Peyton, Ryan, Megan Royce, Kyrie, Ryken, Luana, Rio; Brandon Smith, Cheryce (Justin) Hawkins granddaughter; Jobi, Zane, Zack, Frankie and granddaughter Marteka Eddy and nephews Stevie Orozs and Michael Orozs and niece Suzie Schuman.

Russell passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. At his request, there will be no services. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
