Ruby Ione Peterson Adams of Gering, NE passed away July 30, 2023 at the age of 107. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 05, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2-6 pm at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Bayard Volunteer Fire Department. Ruby was born August 30, 1915 in Maywood, NE to Carl M. and Emma Madsen Peterson. Ruby married Frank C Adams on July 3, 1935 in Sidney, NE. They lived around Sterling, CO until they moved to Minatare where they farmed. They moved to Scottsbluff, NE in 1948. To this marriage 2 children were born Alvina Mae and Melva Lorraine. After the move to Scottsbluff, Ruby worked in the retail customer service industry.
When Frank became ill, she stayed at home to take care of him. She filled her time and her home by babysitting many children who still call her Grandma. After Frank passed away, Ruby then moved to Bayard.
Ruby loved to bowl, highlighted by her team being crowned league champions in 1996, at the age of 81. Ruby also loved to travel with her sister Julia, GRANY HOT WHEELS. They traveled all over the United States even venturing into Canada.
Ruby was devoted to her family and is survived by her daughter Melva Guard, 9 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, 17 Great Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Great Grandchildren, and many closely regarded nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, Daughter Alvina Burnett, son-in-law John Ronald Guard, Grandsons Eric Guard and Kevin Green, Granddaughter Yvonne “Vonnie” Guard, brothers Carl and Albert Ben Peterson, and Sisters Julia Rodman and Mary Swanson.
Ruby left us with memories that we will all cherish. She was one of a kind, dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
