Roger Neil Gwin, 71, Scottsbluff

Roger Neil Gwin, age 71, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and his dog, Charlie, on July 17, 2023. A graveside inurnment service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Roger was born September 27, 1951, in Longmont, Colorado, to Robert Neil and Edith (Blair)

Gwin. He graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1969. He was a talented Cross-Country runner with records that stood, even after his children graduated. Roger went on to graduate from Montana State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1975.

After college, Roger worked alongside his father at Western Sugar and learned many valuable mechanical and life skills. After that, Roger began a career as a roofing contractor under the employment of Tri-State Roofing for over 30 years where he was a respected mentor and leader.

He married Beverly “Bev” Rockwell on November 26, 1993, and together they built a wonderful life that included traveling, auctioning, fishing, and countless other memories that they shared between each other and the people that knew and loved them. Roger has always loved to read and learn and among other things he taught himself woodworking as a hobby. His love for woodworking allowed him to create pieces that will be passed on for generations to come.

He is survived by his daughter, Carey (Don) Allbaugh, Granddaughter, Jayme Laughlin (Mitch); Great-Granddaughters: Journee and Ellie; Sons: Ryan Gwin and Patrick Gwin; Granddaughter, Hannah and Grandson, Mason; Brother, Rob (Val) Gwin; Sister, JoAnn (Lynn) DeMaranville; Brother-in-law Dennis Greenwalt; many Nieces and Nephews; and his best friend, Charlie “the dog”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” and Edith Gwin; his wife, Bev; and his Sister, Sharon Greenwalt.

Roger was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed by many.
