Robert Prester, age 84, of Gering, Nebraska, died on August 26, 2022 at Regional West Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 2pm at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel, with inurnment at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Andy Griess officiating. He was born June 4, 1938, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Fred and Katherine (Schnell) Prester, and he received his early education in Scottsbluff area schools, graduating from Scottsbluff High School. He married Donna R. Sargent on December 26, 1960, in Omaha, Nebraska. He served honorably for the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1961, after which he furthered his education to become an administrator of various nursing home facilities. He was a surveyor for the Nebraska Department of Health for many years after that.
Robert loved to cook and participated in the annual Chili Cook Offs and other local events, such as Oregon Trail Days. As a consequence, he had a vast collection of cookbooks. He also collected Hesson belt buckles.
Surviving him is his daughter, Cindy Prester.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; and daughter, Rhonda.
