Robert L. Gorr, 86, of Scottsbluff, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Scottsbluff Care and Rehab Center. His funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor Rick Reisig officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-7pm at Bridgman Funeral Home. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Bob’s honor be made in care of his family to be designated at a later date. Robert was born June 1st,1937 in Scottsbluff, NE, to Sam and Mary (Miller) Gorr. He was the middle child of three. The family lived in the Haig community where he grew up on the farm. He graduated from Scottsbluff High School.
After high school Robert married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Satur on June 17th, 1956. They started farming west of Scottsbluff and then moved to Huntley, WY for a few years. After that, they moved to the Lake Alice community north of Scottsbluff, where they raised their two boys, Bob Jr, and Micheal.
Robert lived there on the farm until his passing.
“Bob” loved living in the Lake Alice community. His love for farming was very apparent in his life. He was an excellent farmer, worked long hours and did his best to get a good crop. He raised sugar beets, beans, corn, and hay. He also fed cattle for many years. Though he loved farming, he made time for some fun. In the winter in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting geese and went fishing when possible, with the boys and friends. In the 70’s he did some tractor pulling and traveled around to different fairs during that time.
One other hobby, his favorite, was when the chance came up to go to a Dutch hop wedding. He always made time for them. He loved to dance and enjoyed the great German food plus visiting with family and friends! He went to all the Octoberfest’s in Mitchell that he could.
Robert is survived by his sons, Robert (Dori) Gorr of Ft. Laramie, WY and Michael Gorr of Scottsbluff, NE; sister Jodene(Ron) Faber of Santa Ana, CA; grandchildren, Nicholas Gorr, April Simmons and Heston Gorr; and brother-in-law Willard Loose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Darlene, and sister Shirley Loose.
