It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Patricia’s honor can be made to Festival of Hope. Bridgman Family Funeral Home in Scottsbluff is entrusted with arrangements.

Patricia was the second daughter of John and Alice (Mc Carter) Lane, born in Bayard, NE on December 5th, 1936. She entered this world prematurity at a fragile weight of 3 pounds. Born at home, she was quickly transported without her mother to Scottsbluff Hospital. During her first six months in intensive care, the local milk man would visit the farm and pick up her mother’s milk to be delivered to the hospital to help her survive. What an amazing feat of perseverance to survive in the 1930s at that premature weight. She started out amazing and continued to be so throughout her life.

She graduated from Bayard High School in 1955. It must have been a good school because her son, Jim, started his teaching career there and continues to teach after 36 years. Patricia continued her education at Hastings College and finished her formal pursuit of education after she received her Registered Nursing degree in Scottsbluff, NE. Her caring heart of taking care of people did not outshine her true love for Delmar (Doc) Roberts. Right after she finished nursing school, she married Doc in 1960 and devoted her life to her children and husband. Doc and Pat just celebrated 61 years of marriage this December.

As a self-taught artist, her talents were abundant. Her watercolor butterflies come to life as they flutter on the canvas. She enjoyed tatting with a picot here and a picot there in the ancient form of lace making, hardanger and sampler embroidery. Casting bronze sculptures of statuettes and figurines was another favorite medium. When she wasn’t busy expressing herself with art, you would find her reading an old romance novel in her rocking chair.

Patricia is survived by her husband Delmar Roberts and her three children: Clay Roberts of Penrose, CO (wife Sandi and children Michelle and Eric Merizon), Jim Roberts of Scottsbluff, NE (wife Leisa and children Benjamin, Elizabeth, Abigail, and Nicholas) and Wendy Becker of Colorado Springs (husband Chris and children Brayden and Colton). She also leaves behind her brother Tim Lane, numerous nieces, nephews, additional family members and friends.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jeanne Sherman, her mother-in-law Ina Roberts and father-in-law Bill Roberts, her sister-in-law Gloria Lane and her brother-in-law Glen Sherman.
