Michelle Carlock, 48, of Gering, Nebraska died March 20, 2024. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services scheduled at this time. Fond memories and messages of sympathy may be shared for the family at www.dugankramer.com

Michelle was born December 2, 1975, in Groton, Connecticut to Terry and Claudia (Reames) Carlock. A Navy brat, she spent her early childhood moving around the East Coast, but eventually ended up in Golden, Colorado when her dad retired from the military in 1986. Michelle attended Welchester Elementary and Bell Junior High. She graduated from Golden High School in 1993 and attended the University of Denver as a political science major.

Michelle worked in the legal field for a time, but her most fulfilling work was always with kids. She nannied and babysat for many families in the Denver area over the years, wholeheartedly giving her love to the children in her care. The greatest joy of Michelle’s life was being a mom. Her son, Taylor (with Shane Easterberg), was born in March of 2001, less than a year after the untimely death of Michelle’s beloved mom, Claudia. Michelle and Taylor were an inseparable pair, cracking each other up, comforting and caring for each other in tough times, and enriching the lives of all who knew them with their warmth, generosity, humor, and kindness. Taylor tragically died just a few days before his 12th birthday, after years of battling Burkitt’s lymphoma and leukemia. Michelle’s world shattered and she spent the next 11 years picking up the pieces.

She moved to Nebraska in October of 2023 to live more simply and steep herself in the beauty of the Scottsbluff area.

She is survived by her beloved aunt and uncle, Linda and Dave Cundall of Fort Morgan, Colorado; special friend, Dominic Simon; step-brother, Marke Brooke (partner, Randy); aunts, uncles, many cousins, and countless friends and admirers who loved her for who she was: a bright light in a world that could scarcely afford to lose her.

May she rest peacefully in the loving embrace of the family members who preceded her in death: her mother, Claudia Carlock; father, Terry Carlock; son, Taylor Easterberg; maternal grandmother, Mildred Leopoldus; paternal grandmother, Melba Grasser; and paternal grandfather, Ralph Carlock.
