Michael C. Gutherless Sr., 64, of Scottsbluff, NE passed away May 24, 2024, at his home surrounded by family after a three-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.
Mike was born on March 2, 1960 in North Platte to H. G. “Bud” and Margie (Carpenter) Gutherless. He graduated from North Platte High School and started working for his father at the family business, Gutherless Sheet Metal. Mike had an array of work experience in construction but ultimately, he worked as a tinsmith and ended his career at Twin City Roofing, where he worked for 13 years.
Mike met the love of his life, and wife of 32 years, Irma Palomo, while living in North Platte. They had four children and moved to Gering in 2001, where they built their life together. If you knew Mike, you knew of his love for his kids, his music, his BIBS and— not to mention— his very colorful vocabulary.
Survivors include his wife, Irma Gutherless, and four children; Katie (Andrew) Coppa, Marissa Gutherless, Samantha (Tanner Newson) Gutherless, and Michael Gutherless Jr.; two grandsons, Walker Gutherless and Jake Coppa. Sister, Jean (Frank) Pavlik and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Matilde and Irma Palomo; sisters Margie Theresa and Cynthia; and brothers Bill and Brian.
Services will include a viewing, Thursday, May 30th from 4 p.m.- 6 p.m. and a rosary to follow at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering, NE. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 31st at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. The burial will take place at a later date for immediate family only.
