Maria Guadalupe (Oliva) Aguallo, age 74, passed away unexpectedly after a long illness, Saturday, July 22, 2023. Maria was born in Dimmit, Texas on January 2, 1949, to Genoveva (Marraquin) Oliva and Arnulfo Oliva Sr. As the eldest of six siblings, Maria learned to be a mother, protector, and care giver to those she loved. As a young lady, Maria was raised in Texas, and later Nebraska, by her father Arnulfo Sr. and her stepmother Isabel.

In June 1968 she married Paul Aguallo Sr. They raised four children in their 55 years together. As a mother, Maria was kind, nurturing, and supportive. She loved everything about being a mother. She was an amazing cook and she worked tirelessly to help provide for her children. Maria and Paul share 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Maria had a servant’s heart. She valued people, and was humble and generous to friends, family, and strangers. Her faith in God led her to care for others in a selfless and gentle manner. Maria served as a Family Advocate for several years until her recent retirement. She loved working with children and offering support and resources to families in need. Maria made a positive difference in the lives of children and families in her community.

Maria is survived by her husband, Paul Aguallo Sr. of Gering, NE. Children, Paul Jr. (Nicole) Aguallo (Gering, NE), Victoria (Paul) Lawrence (Mesa, AZ), Lexi Peterka (New York, NY), and Victor Aguallo (Albuquerque, NM). Grandchildren, Paul (Cassidy) Aguallo, Justin (Kait) Cervantes, Dominic Aguallo, Tyler Aguallo, Jared Lawrence, Bailey Lawrence, Kiara Aguallo (fiancé MJ), Addison Hamilton, and Kolton Aguallo. Great-Grandchildren: Damon, Ava, Mateo, Ava, and Harlowe. Brothers, Arnulfo Oliva II (Emma), Joe Oliva. Sisters: Sylvia Garcia, Diane Hernandez, Blanca Oliva, Renee (Mario) Mattorano. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arnulfo Oliva Sr., Isabel Oliva, and Genoveva Quesada. Father-in-law Domingo Aguallo Sr., Mother-in-law Rafaela Aguallo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 10:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Joseph Thambi officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. A visitation will be Friday from 1-6 pm with rosary at 6:00 pm at Gering Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be given to Christ the King Church.
