Margaret Josephine “Jo” Marshall passed away on May 24, 2024 at Heritage Estates, Gering, NE at age 97.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering with Fr. Mike McDonald presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. and Rosary at 10:30 a.m. preceding the Mass. Luncheon follows funeral Mass at the Church. A private family graveside service will be at West Lawn Cemetery.
Jo was born the third of 13 children to Margaret and Henry Linenbrink on July 13, 1926, in Calloway, NE. She attended St. Agnes Academy in Alliance, NE and Chadron State College, Chadron, NE. She was an excellent teacher for many years and retired from JC Penney Management after 30 years of exemplary service.
Jo married James J. Marshall on June 21, 1951 in Merriman, NE. Four children were born to this union, Jean (Stan), Daniel (Julie), Colleen and Sharon. Jo was blessed with nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was a faithful parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering for 60 years and lived her Catholic faith fervently.
Jo is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and sisters Sr. Joan Linenbrink, Verna Stasch, Clara Linenbrink and Henrietta Linenbrink.
Preceding Jo in death were her parents, husband, sisters Mary Snyder, Sr. Cecilia Linenbrink, Kate Linenbrink; brothers John Linenbrink, Vince Linenbrink, William Linenbrink, Nick Linenbrink and James Linenbrink.
A memorial has been established to Christ the King Catholic Church, P.O. Box 33, Gering, NE 69341 in memory of Jo Marshall.
