Lydia “Ruth” (Ehler) Kembel went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 22, 2023, at Heritage Estates in Gering. She was 95 years old. Funeral Services will be held at Bridgman Funeral Home on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Brad Kihlthau officiating. Visitation will precede the Funeral on Friday from 9-11 A.M. Ruth was born on April 20, 1928, in Maywood, Illinois to Jacob and Amalia (Adler) Ehler. At an early age, the family moved to Scottsbluff, Ne, where she attended school. She married Fred Kembel on December 14, 1948. They made their home in the Scottsbluff area. During her life, she worked for Montgomery Wards, Brown Shoe Fit, Porter’s Clothing, and Pizza Hut.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred in 1986; her parents; 6 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Ruth is survived by her sons Michael (Cheryl) and Randy (Julie) Kembel; daughter Jeannie (Gene) Hastings; grandchildren Julie (Matt) Kaup, Jared (Jennifer Ralph), Brandon and Wesley (Becca) Kembel, Lyndsi (Cole) Nollette, Brent (Gretchen) and Chris (Megan) Herron, Jeff (Katie) Hastings, and Amy (Tim) Wilson, as well as 18 great grandchildren.
