Lydia M Steinert, 95 of Gering, Nebraska passed away late Sunday evening, October 30, 2022 at Heritage Estates.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Gering Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 10:30 am with Rev Bob Nazarenus officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Cremation has taken place. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.geringchapel.com.
Lydia was born on March 20, 1927 to George M and Catherine (Berndt) Nazarenus in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She received her education in Scottsbluff public schools. She married Harold Steinert on September 14, 1952. They made their home in Gering. She worked for 40 years for Bluffs Pharmacy in the cosmetic department. She was passionate about celebrating life and entertaining, whether it be a backyard picnic at their home, a holiday or just a visit, she loved family to gather. She was a natural comedian and she knew how to make us laugh and have a great time. She became known as the Turtle Lady as her turtle collection grew beyond 3,000. She had a strong faith. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her brother George Nazarenus of Gering, many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, parents, siblings Art (Marion), Linda (John) Zwetzig, Milly (Pete) Hessler, Harry (Mary) Nazarenus, Henry (Mary) Nazarenus, Marie (Glen) Krichau, Kathryn (Jerry) DeMaranville and Gilbert Nazarenus.
