Linda Ann Baringer, 84
February 21, 1939 - May 19, 2023

Linda Ann Baringer was born on February 21, 1939, in Denver, Colorado, to George and Nola Angle Sherard. She left this world on Friday, May 19, in Gering, Nebraska, at the age of 84.

She attended grade school and started high school in Englewood, Colorado. The family moved to Overland Park in 1955 where Linda graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1957. That fall, she moved to Laramie, Wyoming, to attend the University of Wyoming, where she met C.B. Baringer, an engineering student from Torrington, Wyoming, in 1958. They married and had three children: David, Tracy, and Kathryn (Kathy). The family moved around the country following C.B.’s job with the Corps of Engineers until they moved to Burlington, Kansas, in 1967. They divorced in 1975.

She found love again with Duane D. (Jack) Jones. They were together 23 years before his passing in 1998. She remained a beloved part of Jack’s family for the rest of her life and loved his children and grandchildren as her own.

Linda worked at Mills Home Store, Crisp Pharmacy, Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation, and Mediacom Cable Company. Her summer highlight was often a road trip to Cheyenne, Wyoming, for the famous Frontier Days Rodeo and various concerts. She always enjoyed live music and made countless scrapbooks of her many adventures. After retiring, she enjoyed activities at the Burlington Senior Center.

In 2016, Linda moved to Gering, Neb., to live with her daughter Tracy and son-in-law Kevin. However, she moved to Heritage Estates in Gering due to failing health in 2020.

She was preceded in death by Jack, her parents, son David, and daughter Kathy.

Linda’s legacy carries on through her daughters Tracy (Kevin) Mooney, Gering, Neb., and Tracy Jones Campbell, Burlington; and sons Tom Jones, Hiawatha, Kansas, and Terry Jones, Burlington.

She was a very proud grandma and attended every ball game, school program, concert, and ceremony that she could. She had eight grandchildren: Tami (Kevin) Fordyce, Torrington, Wyoming; Jacob Crome, Maryland; Matt Crome (Lauren), Kansas City; David Baringer; Melissa Vanderheiden , Omaha; Joel Campbell (Mary), Lawrence; Alex Campbell, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Chris Jones, St. Joseph, Missouri; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Gwen Stine (Donald), Cambridge, Neb., and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Friends and family are invited to a graveside service  at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, east of Burlington. Jones Funeral Home in Burlington will handle the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to God’s Storehouse in Burlington in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839
