Larry Warren McCumbers, age 78, of Morrill, Nebraska, passed away on September 28, 2023, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Larry was born on May 6, 1945, to Warren and Evelyn McCumbers. He was a gentle and kind man who fought a long, hard battle throughout his life. He lived by the motto of “work hard-play hard” and was known for his toughness. After graduating from Loomis High School in 1963, Larry married Nelda “Dee” Carter, in Norcatur, Kansas. Their son, Chad was born in 1971, and Larry couldn’t have been more proud to be a father. Chad later married Cindy, whom Larry absolutely adored, and together they had a son named Allen, who brought immense joy to Larry’s life.
Larry spent most of his career as a mechanic and owned and operated D&L Service in Atlanta, Nebraska. He made many lifelong friends through his work and was admired for his skills and dedication. In 2006, Larry and Dee moved to the Scottsbluff area to be closer to family.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, and his brother, Allen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, “Dee” McCumbers; son Chad (Cindy) McCumbers; grandson Allen; brother-in-law Kevin (Lisa) Carter, as well as sisters-in-law Linda (Carl), Carla (Mark), and Carol Ann (John).
Larry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
