Larry was born in a drafty old farm house in Inman, Nebraska on November 5th, 1931 to James

Ralph Hopkins and Iva May Morey Hopkins. He was the youngest of nine children.

Larry had a great love for bluegrass gospel music. He learned to play the guitar by age nine and

followed it by learning the banjo as well. He shared his passion for music by playing and

singing at cowboy church, local nursing homes, and special performances at church.

Above all, Larry loved God with all his heart and it showed in the way he lived his life. He loved

people and all kinds of animals. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories. Larry

was a true gentleman.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, son Larry (Christi) Hopkins, step children, Michael Grant,

Teresa (Chris) Jepsen, Sheryl (Jared) Garnick, nine grandchildren, and many nieces and

nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Hope, a daughter Lynn Hope, his

parents and eight siblings.

Larry James Hopkins passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Regional West Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Scottsbluff. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm at Gabe Rock Cemetery in rural Harrisburg. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 pm at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff.
