Kimberly Rubottom, 45, a beloved wife, daughter, and sister, passed away on February 7, 2024. At her request, cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held on February 17 at 11:00 AM, at Calvary Memorial Church in Gering, NE with Pastor Gary Hashley officiating. A private service will be held, at a later date, in Ainsworth, Ne. Interment will be in Ainsworth Cemetery. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Calvary Memorial Church. Kimberly was born March 28, 1978, in Alliance, NE. She lived there and attended school through the fourth grade and then moved with her family to Scottsbluff, NE. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in May of 1996. While in high school she excelled in volleyball and track. She enrolled and attended WNCC for a year and then transferred to Chadron State College where she attended and graduated Cum Laude in 2000, with a degree in medical technology systems. She gained employment with a firm in Denver, CO where she traveled to Connecticut setting up medical technology systems. She continued working in CO and then moved back to Scottsbluff in 2016 to be closer to family.
Kimberly married Troy Rubottom on July 26, 2019. They loved life and enjoyed each other’s company. They each had a love for the outdoors. They had numerous adventures in traveling, cooking, golfing, which Kim loved to drive the golf cart. She devoured sushi but detested oysters on the half shell. They loved spending time with family.
At the age of three, she became a roller-skating champion earning silver medals in freestyle. She loved being small enough to go under the limbo bar so low no one could match her. Her favorite video game was Ms. Pac- Man. She was too short to reach the controller so she would get an empty 5-gallon bucket to stand on. She has always been a very determined person.
As an adult, her passion for children and the less fortunate continued to grow. She always had a smile and kind words to say to those feeling downtrodden. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, creating savory dishes, and working tediously on one-thousand-piece puzzles. She would always come through the garage door calling out, “Mart Mart” and “Son.” Her favorite name for Troy was “Mahnie” and he called her “Lady”. There are not enough pages to express how amazing she was.
She is survived by her husband, Troy, her parents, Jim and Irene McDermott, her sister, Jacci Koerner (Tony), 5 nephews and 4 nieces whom she dearly loved spending time with. Kim had a strong appreciation and heartfelt love for all of her family members. She will be greatly missed and treasured in all of our hearts. We know we will see her again! At age 12 she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized. Then recently she rededicated her life to Christ.
