Kenneth A. Hartwig, 62, of Gering, NE died unexpectedly on Friday, December 29, 2023 at this home. His memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Harvest Valley Church in Scottsbluff, NE with pastors Curt Holzworth and Joel Hergert officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Harvest Valley Church. Ken was born June 25, 1961 in Scottsbluff, NE to John E. and Gloria (Weitzel) Hartwig. He was a member of the Nebraska Softball Hall of Fame and traveled the world pitching softball. The las few years he was a mentor to numerous young softball pitchers. Ken was active in his church and was loved by many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father John E. Hartwig and his grandparents.
Kenneth is survived by his mother Gloria Hartwig; brother John (Cindy) of Sterling, CO; sister Kathy of Kansas City; nephew Mike (Melanie) of Kansas City and niece Laura (Jeff) of Sterling, CO.
