Kathy “Cookie” Lynn Kuxhausen, 61 of Gering, NE passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and arrangements are taking place at Dugan Kramer Funeral home. Fond memories and condolences may be shared at www.dugankramer.com for the Kuxhausen Family.
Kathy was born on November 30, 1961, to Larry and Judy (Wimberley) Kuxhausen in Scottsbluff, NE. She received her education from Scottsbluff public schools. After high school Kathy made her life being a waitress/bartender at various places within the community. She was known as “Cookie” and proudly worked at The Western Café, Harry’s Truck Stop in Minatare, NE and The Pink Palace in McGrew, NE.
Kathy very much enjoyed being around people. She was always one to make a joke, play a prank, and make everyone laugh. Her favorite holiday was Halloween when she would dress up every year. She was never one to truly grow up. Kathy enjoyed every second with her nieces and nephews. She was always there to bring them to every carnival, teach them to drive, go on frog hunts, and have countless sleepovers. Kathy never met a stranger and was loved by everyone. One of Kathy’s favorite things was spoiling her dogs (her girls). A famous question that Kathy would always ask people was if they were ready to spend some quality time with her and you knew that she would always have something planned. Kathy enjoyed making and canning salsa and gardening in her earlier years. She will be greatly missed.
Kathy is survived by her siblings Sherri Dostal of Gering, Ne, Michelle (Robby) Dillon of Wellington, Co, Ricky (Judy) Kuxhausen of Scottsbluff, Ne, and Melinda Flannigan of Gering, Ne, her stepbrother Larry (Georgia) Brown of Lincoln, Ne, 2 half-sisters, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
